Family & Community Support Services

“Investing in people, our most valuable resource.”

Blackfalds Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) FCSS offers support and services that include community programs and courses, community group support, Food Bank information, employment support, interagency meetings, subsidized programs, and information and referral services.

FCSS also provides preventative social programming and activities that use proactive, strength-based, and intentional strategies to help individuals, families and communities develop skills required to form a strong sense of self, resulting in the ability to build healthy relationships with others.

FCSS priorities are directed by the Social Needs Assessment Plan (2016), which includes substantial input from the members of our community.

Lunch Box Program during COVID-19

In partnership with the Blackfalds Food Bank, FCSS supports Blackfalds families during the pandemic by providing healthy food to those in need.

Families with children 0-18 can pick up a box of breakfasts and lunches every week, thanks to the exceptional support of local Blackfalds businesses and donours.

If you are interested in donating to the program or accessing the program, please contact FCSS at 403.600.9066

Blackfalds Food Bank

Did you know that you can donate non-perishable goods at our local grocery stores?

By donating one item every time you go grocery shopping, our Food Bank's shelves will be filled up!

If you know anyone who could benefit from the Food Bank, please refer them to FCSS in order to make an appointment.

Food Bank partnerships include:

  • Weekly bread donation by Cobb's Bakery in Red Deer
  • Locally donated Alberta beef by various local farmers
  • Lacombe Pik-n-Pak provides fresh vegetables

Every Wednesday, a group of volunteers prepare and provide food hampers to those in need. If you have time and are interested in helping out, contact the Food Bank Manager at 403.600.1768.

Blackfalds 55+ Housing Project

The Town of Blackfalds dedicated a parcel of land to investigate seniors' housing options in Blackfalds. Partnering with the Lacombe Foundation and the Bethany Group, the next step in the process is gauging the level of interest from individuals.

To participate in the next steps or view previous community presentations, please visit the Lacombe Foundation and fill out the Expression of Interest form and/or the Seniors Housing application and remit to housing.lacombe@bethanygrp.ca.
