Blackfalds Reviving Blackfalds Street Dance in August, closing out Summer Culture Series
Blackfalds, Alberta (July 28, 2025) – To bring the Town of Blackfalds’ Summer Culture Series to a close and begin the summer send-off, the Town of Blackfalds and the Heart of Blackfalds Society will be reviving the well-loved Blackfalds Street Dance on August 21.The Blackfalds Summer Culture Series has been a staple in the Blackfalds community since 2017, bringing Blackfalds residents and visitors together for free and family-friendly entertainment on select Thursdays throughout the summer. While all activities provide entertainment, most instalments are also educational and offer the opportunity to experience diverse cultures and backgrounds.“This summer, attendees have experienced magicians, animals, comedy, circus acts, and music. We look forward to bringing the series to a close with an incredible collaboration of efforts from different areas of the community to entertain and bring the community together,” shared Sports and Events Coordinator Kurt Jensen. The Street Dance will feature a partnership between the Town, Heart of Blackfalds Society, local downtown businesses, and local organizations. There will be charity fundraisers, multiple games and activities, food, DJ, fire truck tours, and plenty of opportunities for dancing and connection. The recently formed non-profit organization, Heart of Blackfalds Society, is taking on a lead role in organizing charity attractions, assisting with contacting businesses, and helping to put even more heart into the downtown area and bring back the fondly remembered event.“The Heart of Blackfalds Society is thrilled to lead the revival of the Blackfalds Street Dance! Many of our members fondly remember taking part in this community celebration nearly two decades ago, and we are excited to help bring the magic back,” said Heart of Blackfalds President Trent Kroetsch. “This year, you will find us right in the heart of the action: hosting cornhole games with friendly competition and selling our signature merchandise and Love Locks for the heart at the Abbey Centre. Join us as we celebrate the spirit of Blackfalds, old memories, and new connections!”The Street Dance will be from 5 – 8pm on August 21, and Broadway Avenue will be closed for the event from Railway St to Indiana St. A map of activities will be finalized the first week of August and will be available at www.blackfalds.ca/events. It is free to attend, although some activities will require payment, like food and monetary donations. For more information:Kurt JensenSports and Events Coordinator403.885.6371kjensen@blackfalds.caHeart of Blackfalds Societyheartofblackfaldspresident@gmail.com
