Laura and her husband moved to Blackfalds 25 years ago, where they raised their three children. Laura found a passion for volunteering when she was in the 7th grade and has continued to do so throughout her life. Since living in Blackfalds, she’s been a volunteer for numerous community events, as well as volunteering for the local Girl Guides, kids sports and our schools. Laura is dedicated to making Blackfalds a great place to live. She believes strongly in the importance of connection, collaboration and giving back to the community.
Laura has always been drawn to work in leadership and management roles. Working at Canada Post for the past 15 years, Laura advanced in her career as a trainer, supervisor and Postmaster. She has continued to invest in developing stronger leadership skills and building lasting relationships within the community.
Laura was first elected as a Blackfalds Town Councillor in 2017, where she continued her work on council until recently being elected as Mayor. Years of council provided her with experience and a deep understanding of municipal governance. She brings knowledge and a strong commitment to serving her community with integrity, transparency and accountability.
