What a Housing Needs Assessment is
A study of the housing a community has now, and the housing it is likely to need in the years ahead.
It looks at who lives here, what housing exists, what it costs,
and which households are finding it hard to secure housing that suits
them. It then sets out where the gaps are.
This is the first Housing Needs Assessment the Town of Blackfalds has undertaken.

What types of housing exist in Blackfalds, what is currently being built, and what is missing. - What it costs.
Prices to buy and rents to lease, and how both have changed over recent years. - Households under pressure.
Which households are struggling to find or keep housing that suits their needs and their income. - Particular groups.
Older residents, young people leaving home, families, renters and people with accessibility needs. - How we compare.
How Blackfalds sits alongside other communities in central Alberta on housing supply and cost. - The next ten years.
What the community is likely to need as it continues to grow and change.
